a patent application, filed by Samsung last may and made public only a few days ago, shows the main features that could be implemented in the future Gear VR . The viewer will be grateful to detect the position eye movements and facial expressions of the wearer.
The patent, Titled “Image Processing for Head Mounted Display Devices” (literally, image processing for the head mounted display devices), shows an rich sensor device positioned inside and all ‘exterior, able to “scan” the face so as to make the interaction with the virtual reality even more realistic and personalized. To help do this, could also be used an external camera designed to help you track your location.
Among the sensors described in the literature, we find the optical one, two infrared, various EOG (Elettrooculografici sensors to measure eye movement) and the same IR LEDs positioned on the inside.
