US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has published a great shot of a spiral galaxy NGC 278.

The image was obtained Space Telescope «Hubble» (NASA / ESA Hubble Space Telescope), whose mission in the current year has been extended for another five years. Survey was carried out using a tool Wide Field Planetary Camera 2.

imprinted on spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Cassiopeia at a distance of about 38 million light-years away.

of NGC 278 are interested in unusual star formation processes. New lights are formed mainly in the central region of the galaxy of about 6500 light-years. In this star formation is practically not observed on the periphery.

Named feature perfectly visible in the image. The center of the galaxy looks very bright, and the extreme region – much darker.
