Leica M-P Grip: camera or ping pong racket?

The price of [19459003List] Leica M-P (Typ 204) is set at EUR 6,710. Outlay certainly not content, but in line with the rest of the offer of the German mark. The weekend was made version Grip camera, a limited edition created in collaboration with photographer and artist of Swiss origin Rolf Sachs : to change is the handle, with the camera body coated in the same area used for table tennis bats.

A red-colored finish that ensures a better and more comfortable grip, but at a high cost: $ 14,950 approximately 13,650 EUR according to current exchange rates. It has only been produced 79 units so it is a model destined to collectors rather than for everyday use. The kit includes the camera body and the lens Summilux-M 35 mm ASPH with aperture f / 1.4, as well as the Leica SF 40 flash, the belt, the carrying case and a set of brushes for cleaning the surface. So Sachs explained why it was chosen such a particular design material.

A decision dictated by a utilitarian approach, looking for a material that would guarantee optimal handling with pinpoint accuracy. The chosen one adds a completely new haptic experience.

The Technical specifications do not change in the least compared to those of traditional PM: inside the camera body is furnished with an 24 megapixel sensor in full frame format, components capable of video recording resolution Full HD and on the back a 3-inch LCD display with sapphire crystal surface to resist scratching and weathering. For those interested, the Grip edition of the Leica M-P is already available for pre-order on the official website pages, but the delivery to buyers will take place starting from the month of November.
