First of recent disappointing financial results, the Canadian producer had promised the arrival of three new Android smartphones. So far only one of them has been announced ( BlackBerry DTEK50 ), whereas the BlackBerry DTEK60 not been heard. The third model, known as BlackBerry Mercury has now appeared in Geekbench database, but his fate is currently unknown.
CEO John Chen press in late September that BlackBerry will not produce more directly the next smartphone, but it will assign the construction to outside companies, in exchange of royalties use brand. The manufacturer has not yet revealed the name of partenr nor confirmed the arrival of smartphones, so the specifications of the online published device could belong to a prototype. It can, however, say that the BlackBerry Mercury will almost certainly have a QWERTY keyboard physical.
The hardware should include one screen 4.5-inch with full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels), an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor at 2 GHz, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB flash memory. According to previous rumors, Mercury will have a rear camera 18 megapixel and an 8-megapixel front camera, resolutions quite high for a mid-low-end smartphone. The battery will instead have a capacity of 3,400 mAh.
According to a report in Geekbench, the operating system will be Android 7.0 Nougat . Considering that the DTEK60 had already appeared on the official website, the debut of Mercury is not expected before 2017.
