Acer updated Chromebook 15 presented last year, mainly by improving the autonomy, thanks to the use of a more efficient processor. The 2016 model maintains the design of its predecessor, but also inherits the main defects. The screen resolution is in fact too low, and the endowment of RAM is definitely poor. Users who purchase the notebook can however install Android app .
Being a low-end product, Acer has clearly chosen materials and high-quality components. The frame is made of plastic, while the screen has a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels rather limited considered the [19459003diagonal] 15.6 inches and the small cost of a full HD panel. The hardware also includes an Intel Celeron N3060 processor at 1.6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of LPDDR3 eMMC flash memory. Acer does not offer a configuration with 4 GB of RAM and full HD screen as for the previous Chromebook 15.
Connectivity is provided by WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 modules. There are also doors USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, HDMI output, SD card reader, HD webcam, microphone and two 2-watt stereo speakers each, positioned at the sides of the keyboard. The battery has a capacity of 3,950 mAh. Acer promises a maximum range of 12 hours or four more than the previous model.
The operating system is obviously Chrome OS . With an upcoming update will introduce support for Android app that users can download from the Google Play Store. The price of the Chromebook 15 (2016) is $ 199. It is not known if and when it will arrive on the European market.
