IDC analytical company Experts estimate that this year’s global shipments of smart phones will reach 1.45 billion units. This is 0.6% more than last year. It should be noted that last year the increase was 10.4%.

Slowing market growth as a whole is accompanied by a rapid increase in the supply of models with support for 4G networks. Analysts expect that it will amount to 21.3%. In absolute terms, this corresponds to an increase in shipments from last year’s 967 million 4G devices up to 1.17 billion. In mature markets, to which the IDC experts include the US, Canada, Japan and Western European countries, the share of models with 4G support increased from 85% the year before 94%. In emerging markets, including Eastern Europe, it is expected to increase the share of models with 4G support from 61% to 77% last year in the current.

At the same time IDC experts predicted the distribution of the market between the mobile OS. In their view, Android share will increase from 85.0% in 2016 to 85.6% in 2020. During this time, iOS share will decrease from 14.3% to 14.2%, while the share of Windows Phone – from 0.4% to 0.1%.
